Hearings are scheduled for next week on the legislative change needed to allow the state to offer a different health benefit plan to retirees than is offered to active employees. A hearing will be held on Tuesday, March 1 at 1 p.m. in the House Appropriations Committee on HB 72 (the Budget Reconciliation and Financing Act or "BRFA") and on Wednesday, March 2 at 1 p.m. in the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee on SB 87, the companion BRFA bill.
A list of all members of both of these committees is attached. This would be the time to contact any of them you know--or anyone you know who may know any of them--to urge them to eliminate the provision from the BRFA that will allow the state to dramatically and unfairly increase our prescription costs.
