In a vote count conducted by the independent American Arbitration Association (AAA) today, Unit E employees voted overwhelmingly to accept the three year contract negotiated by their representatives with the employer.
AFT Healthcare-Maryland would like to thank all of the members and employees who participated in this contract ratification vote and for their support for our efforts together. We will continue to work for all Unit E members as we go forward.
We believe that we were able to negotiate an outstanding agreement in light of the difficult economic conditions that our state has been facing in the last few years. The vote to ratify indicates strong support for our efforts to improve conditions for all state employees.
The highlights of the agreement are as follows:
· $750 bonus to be paid during FY 2012;
· 2% pay raise effective Jan 1, 2013;
· 3% pay raise effective Jan 1, 2014
· No furloughs for the life of the contract
· Paid leave for former pay reduction days
